Carry on Tips: Hair and Body Care

Welcome to part two in our Carry On Tips series, today we’ll be giving you a few tips on how to manage your liquid hair and body products when flying with a carry on bag.

*You can see the carry on rules on the previous post via the link below.

Remember you’ll have to share your one litre limit with your make up and any other liquids, gels or aerosols.

Shampoo and Conditioner: Did you know you can buy these in solid forms? This is a brilliant way to lower your liquids although you may not find the results as good as your regular shampoo and conditioner, but this is a great alternative if your getting close to your one litre limit. Otherwise pack travel sized versions of your favourite shampoo and buy more along the way if you run out. If you’re going on a longer trip to a few different countries you may not be able to find your favourite brands here but you will always be able to find alternatives as you go.
Heat protector, treatment and other hair products: These probably aren’t going to fit into your ziplock bag so leave them at home, if you have a little space left over you can probably squeeze in one or see if you can find a mini version.
Moisturizer: Do you really, really need this? Especially if your only going away for a week or two? Prioritize.
Fake tan: Leave it at home, get a spray tan beforehand or buy on arrival if you really can’t go without- although not all countries will have the brand you prefer (or even any). If you’ll be spending a lot of time outside on vacation your skin will become naturally darker anyway.
Toothpaste: Get a travel sized version if your running close to your zip lock bag’s space limit.
Insect repellants and sunscreen: Unless these are going to be ridiculously expensive in the destination you’re going to buy them on arrival.
Cleanser/ Toner etc: It may be a bit hard to fit this into your zip lock bag – try facial wipes as an alternative if you’re out of space.
Deodorant: You can’t really escape trying to fit this in – make sure there’s room for it.
